Newcastle Library

Summary

This project consists of a new branch library with structured parking below, surface parking and associated site development. The main library level is approximately 12,500 square feet and includes book stack areas, reading room, children’s area, meeting room, restrooms, workroom, office, staff break and restroom, storage, study areas and an exterior plaza space.

The construction includes slab-on-grade and concrete walls at the parking level; post-tensioned flooring system, metal framed exterior and interior walls, steel bar joists and metal deck. The exterior cladding will consist of brick veneer, metal panels and curtain wall glazing system.

The building will utilize a ground source heating system, radiant heated and cooled flooring and a pre-vegetated mat green roof system. This building will utilize energy efficient thermal insulation, mechanical, electrical and plumbing fixtures.
